9 Days, 3 Surgeries and Dialysis

After 9 days, 3 surgeries, 5 days of dialysis and lots of terrible hospital food

WE ARE HOME!!

We still have a long road ahead with dialysis and eventually a transplant, but Greg is home getting some much needed rest and we can start getting used to our new normal with dialysis, which will eventually be done at home in about a month, once we get trained and supplies arrive.

This entire experience has been humbling for the both of us and you all reminded us that we have an amazing support system. As hard as it is to throw up a white flag we both realize we won't be able to do it without help as we enter the unknown of renal failure, dialysis and a transplant.

For those asking how they can help or if they can bring meals - we appreciate it and since I promised several of you I would get back to you on that so I'll post a few ideas below.

For meals - that's hard as the 3 of us are all on completely different "diets" - Greg will be on the renal diet until further notice which is a whole lot of nothing and what he can eat changes almost weekly based on his bloodwork and it mostly has to be fresh and free of preservatives  Michelle is on a high calories/fats bc she needs ro gain some weight and is very pickey and her meds kill her appetite - at this point give me a peanut butter and jelly and I'm happy bc thinking about food these days is exhausting!!! However we will be doing some food prep later this week to hopefully make meals for us a little easier - so grocery store/walmart/sams or instacart gift cards would help as we try to figure this all out.

I also put together an Amazon Wishlist for things we will need or make life easier as we are navigating life with dialysis, keeping our the equipment and supplies organized, and our home sanitized to avoid contaminating his dialysis catheter and equipment. Originally this was just my shopping list, but I did add some gift cards for those who may want to send them that way.

Please know that your prayers and just letting us know you care mean just as much as a meal as we go through all this. If you reached out and we haven't responded don't hesitate to reach out again.
