First Hospitalization - Start of Dialysis

Stacy's Facebook Post from June 23, 2024

Update on Greg: it's been a whirlwind few days and honestly I can't remember who we have talked to or forgot to respond to....and niether of us really feel up to chatting so here is an update.

For those of you who don't know yet - Greg is in renal failure and we started the process to get him on the transplant list at UNC in April 2024

Long story short:

After a couple of back to back ER visits for abdominal/back pain and extremely high blood pressure this week - Greg was admitted early yesterday morning and they placed a temporary catheter in his neck to start dialysis yesterday.

He has surgery scheduled (as of now) for tomorrow to have the permanent catheter for dialysis until he gets a new kidney. He's doing "okay"..... right now it's more mentally draining than physically and to be honest the last few days scared both of us.

We definitely have a long road ahead and we are so appreciative of everyone who has reached out to help. This will obviously be a long road to get him a kidney and if you know me I hate asking for help but I realize it will be needed for our sanity, so I promise ...to try my best ....to keep you all posted on ways you can help through this.

Also I will post more info later this week about becoming a living donor as that could help him cut several years off the wait - but I want to get all the info together first bc that is a process in itself.

There is no doubt we have an amazing support system and to those that have helped me keep my sanity (which is debatable lol) through this so far - thank you.
